Treatment and Evaluation Methods
We practice Global Medicine which recognizes and integrates philosophies of healing from around the world. All of our treatment and evaluation methods are nonforceful and noninvasive. Our years of experience in successfully treating thousands of patients, have led us to the selection and development of highly effective methods that are capable of identifying and correcting conditions at their root cause.
Among others, we use the latest techniques in Meridian Therapy, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy, Herbology, Ayurveda, Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Needle-Free Acupuncture Techniques
In 1994, I (Dr. Ron Cherubino) was invited to be a member of a delegation of doctors and other health care professionals on a lecture tour to China. The plan was to visit three major cities in mainland China and engage in professional exchange with our Chinese counterparts.
We were to observe, first hand, the workings of a variety of health care facilities. In turn, we were to report back on the efficacy of integrating alternative health care into our mainstream hospitals and other health care facilities back here in the USA.
During the weeks that we spent touring the hospitals, my perspective on acupuncture and the Chinese art of healing was dramatically changed. My primary orientation to acupuncture had been one in which needles were the treatment of choice. What I found, especially in the larger institutions, was a variety of non-needle instruments being used to treat traditional acupuncture points.
Since that time, my new perspective has led me to integrate the use of several non-needle instruments into my nervous system based approach here at the center.
Acupuncture Principles
Acupuncture is said to be 3000 to 5000 years old. The basic principles involve a unique overall view of the human body and its relationship to its surroundings. The Chinese speak of harmony, which is attained when balance exists within and around the body. Harmony and health go hand in hand. Chi, the Chinese word for energy, must be in proper balance in order for health to be present.
My Americanized explanation of acupuncture might be helpful. It is as follows: The human body is electrical in nature. The health of all parts of the body depends on a balanced supply of electrical energy, which is transmitted through nerves and other cells. The Chinese have determined that this energy flows through pathways known as meridians. If you've ever seen an acupuncture mannequin, the meridians are depicted as lines drawn on the surface of the model.
Meridian/acupuncture points overlap and correspond to specific neurological pathways. There are various ways, some of which are quite complex, of evaluating these energy pathways and identifying imbalances between them. The practice of acupuncture utilizes a variety of methods to restore balance between meridians, ranging from the application of light touch to the use of electrical instrumentation on acupuncture points.
We have seen outstanding results with the use of these instruments.
Electro-Acupuncture
Electro-Acupuncture involves treatment of specific acupuncture and trigger points on the body with small (milliamp/microamp) electrical impulses. These electrical impulses are applied by using specifically designed instruments which accurately locate and effectively treat specific acupuncture points. Treatment is safe and painless, making it appropriate for use with patients of any age. In our center, we have found that the therapeutic benefits resulting from the use of electro-acupuncture consistently exceed those achieved with use of needles.
Laser Acupuncture
At Cherubino Health Center, we have implemented the use of low power cold quartz lasers in acupuncture and auricular therapy treatments. Our results have been very favorable in the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. The use of laser light is safe, painless and effective without the risks and complications associated with the use of needles. (Learn more - laser acupuncture brochure)

Pulse Energy Technique
Pulse Energy Technique is a by-hand healing modality developed over the past 25 years by Doctor of Alternative Medicine, Dr. Ron Cherubino. Numerous and varied systems of healing from around the world have been studied, practiced, integrated, assimilated and enhanced in order to develop this highly effective technique.
PET combines nonforceful Chiropractic principles with those of Acupuncture, Meridian Therapy, and Bioenergetics. With the use of this technique, areas of imbalance and deficiency in the body's nervous system are identified and corrected.
Light finger pressure is applied to points adjacent to the spinal column, on the cranium and specific nerve pathways. Treatment with Pulse Energy Technique results in improved nervous system function, and is capable of bringing about permanent correction of the underlying causes of many diseases.
PET can be classified as a sensory based technique with the ability of making permanent changes to both the sensory and motor divisions of the nervous system. The purpose of this powerful technique is to reestablish communication between the peripheral and central divisions of the nervous system. It reorients the relationship between the two and reeducates the appropriate neural components, thereby enabling the body to self regulate and maintain a more functional overall communication system.

CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and correcting problems affecting the craniosacral system, the environment in which the brain and spinal cord function. This manual therapy encourages the body's natural healing mechanisms to improve the operation of the central nervous system, relieve the negative effects of stress, improve overall health and strengthen the body's immune system.
The craniosacral system consists of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tailbone area. An imbalance or restriction in this system can potentially cause any number of problems with the body's nervous system. Treatment with this approach is non-forceful with the practitioner generally applying only five grams of pressure. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of a nickel.
CranioSacral Therapy is practiced worldwide by doctors and therapists of all known disciplines including, medical doctors, doctors of chiropractic medicine, doctors of Oriental medicine, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, physical therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists and other professional body workers.

Nutrition And Homeopathy
We have been dealing with nutrition in our center since the early 1980's. My wife Linda, and I had the privilege of studying under Dr. M.T. Morter, Jr., one of the world's leading researchers in the field of clinical nutrition. We were able to carry this information with us into private practice. Nutrition remains an integral part of our treatment protocol and we continue to add to our body of knowledge.
When we first began using nutrition, our approach, which utilized acid / alkaline balancing, was considered radical. I remember how unpopular a concept it was that nutrition and disease were related. I often remember an incident which occurred, I believe, in 1983. I had been working quite late at the office one night and arrived home about 2:00 a.m. I turned on the television to "veg out" and saw a public service announcement. It was a spot which had been produced on an obviously low budget, with cartoon like drawings.
The message went something like, " If anyone ever tells you that what you eat is related to disease, they are quacks, there is no connection between food and disease." At the bottom of the screen it read, Council on Quackery, and gave a Washington D.C. address. As I have taught and lectured over the years, I have wished so many times that I had a copy of that commercial. One of my secret wishes is to someday receive a videotape of that TV spot. I figure the more times I tell the story the more likely that is to occur.
Well, be that as it may, things have begun to move in a more natural direction in the field of clinical nutrition. We now hear how saturated fats can cause plaquing of our arteries. We are warned to eat our vegetables because they are linked to the prevention of cancer. In actuality, these and many other simple but profound facts have been known to naturalists worldwide for hundreds of years. Jethro Kloss, an early 20th century naturalist, healer and author of the book Back to Eden, documented the use of herbs and other foods in the successful treatment of dozens of diseases, including cancer.
It has been very difficult, especially in this country, to get this knowledge into the hands of the population in general, and even more difficult to reach the people that are sick and hurting and in critical need of this information. The problem has in part been the lack of acceptance of these facts by the pharmaceutically oriented western medical establishment. We can only hope that as more and more people learn about the value of nutrition and its relationship to their health, things will continue to change. Hopefully, in the years to come, knowledge will grow, attitudes will change and we will again be able to look back comically at some of the currently held positions on nutrition.
In the meantime, we at Cherubino Health Center, will continue to pioneer the use of nutrition to combat disease and improve health. Is there a relationship between your health and the food you eat? Yes! Most certainly. Once imbalances are identified, there is a wealth of nutritional knowledge that can be utilized to the benefit of your health. In conjunction with other alternative treatments we use live foods, detoxification diets, enzyme therapy, vitamin and mineral supplementation, herbs and homeopathics to help the body heal.

KI Method (Ki-iki Jitsu)
Focusing on the body’s electrical system the KI Method has acquired its roots from Japanese Medicine. KI method is a hands-on technique. with the practitioner, sequentially placing their hands lightly on two different and precise locations on the body (over clothing) at a time. This stimulates the body’s electrical energy to move, shift and rebalance. This flow promotes better blood and lymphatic circulation, increased CNS (central nervous system) conductivity, and improved enzyme activity - all of which are necessary to promote healing, rejuvenate body systems and improve overall health.
This technique is highly effective in restoring the normal flow of electrical energy to and from all areas of the body. We have found this technique to be particularly effective in integrating the function of the peripheral nervous system with that of the central nervous system. It can be used as a stand-alone technique, or as an adjunctive and supportive therapy and is an excellent choice for maintenance and preventative treatment regimens.

Additional Information on Methods and Evaluation Techniques
All of our treatment and evaluation methods are nonforceful and noninvasive. Our years of experience in successfully treating thousands of patients, have led us to the selection and development of highly effective methods that are capable of identifying and correcting conditions at their root causes.
We use the latest techniques in Meridian Therapy, Chiropractic, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy, Herbology, Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
The use of alternative health care methods continues to grow in this country and around the world. It does so for good reason; it is not only highly effective but also remarkably safe. It works well with acute and chronic conditions alike, and is the only form of health care in the world that offers hundreds of completely safe approaches to preventative care.
To those who are well versed in alternative and integrative health care concepts, most of the treatment methods described here will seem familiar. However, for those who are new to natural health-care methods and concepts, I encourage you to look at this information while keeping the following in mind:
1. It helps to look at these new concepts with a fresh outlook and an open mind.
2. Remember, this form of treatment works. This is not mere posturing, vibrato or rhetoric; it is merely fact. For those of us working at the center, decades of observation and experience support this position. (Belief in the efficacy of these treatments is helpful but not mandatory. On the other hand, disbelief will not negate the effectiveness of this form of treatment, but it may prevent the person who disbelieves from realizing any of its benefits.) Thorough research makes good sense!
3. Alternative healthcare as practiced at the Cherubino Health Center cannot be properly understood by simply applying "medical thinking." It is based on principles and concepts that differ fundamentally from other medical disciplines.
Natural, alternative, health care is based on the concept that the human body is designed to be self-healing, self-regulating and naturally healthy. Disease is viewed as an abnormal state, not as an inevitable consequence of existence. When and if the symptoms of disease present themselves, natural remedies and treatments are sought first whenever possible. "Above All Else - Do No Harm"
In reality, the current medical system under which we live includes all sorts of options and alternatives. Unfortunately, these options are seldom available under one roof. But the fact of the matter is, they are available and no one has to settle for low level "Cover-up and cut em up" medical care. The practitioners of Cherubino Health Center offer people many workable alternatives to the pharmaceutical and surgical approach.
For those who remain skeptical, leery or unconvinced, it's time for study, research and exploration. If you have a genuine interest in learning more, our staff members can be a good resource and can help to get you pointed in the right direction. Each of our practitioners and staff members has been personally helped by the treatments and methods that we use at the center. We encourage you to contact us with your specific questions.
